Water Parameters

Water Type: Fresh water

Water Temperature: Tropical (72-82°F)

Tank pH Level: 6.8-7.8

Hardness: 8-12 dGH

Temperament: Peaceful

Difficulty Level: Beginner

Species: Guppy

Location: Lafayette, Louisiana, United States

Aclimation

Prepare the Tank:

Make sure the new tank is set up with proper filtration and has been cycled to establish beneficial bacteria.

Check that the water temperature, pH, and other water parameters match those of the water the guppies are coming from.

Float the Bag:

Place the sealed bag containing the guppies in the new tank. Let it float for about 15-20 minutes to equalize the temperature between the bag water and the tank water.

Add Tank Water to the Bag:

Open the bag and roll down the top edges to create an air pocket so it can float. Every 5 minutes, add a small amount of tank water to the bag (about 1/4 cup). Do this for about 30 minutes. This helps the guppies gradually get used to the water chemistry in the new tank.

Release the Fish:

After the acclimation period, gently net the guppies out of the bag and place them into the tank. Avoid pouring the bag water into the tank to minimize the risk of introducing any potential contaminants.

Soooo my guppy arrived alive 5/5. Im acclimating her now .. she isn’t as vibrant as the picture 🥲, her colors are dull .. but maybe the picture is of a male I know females aren’t as pretty ? .. overall I’ll say 3/5 just because she isnt that pretty as the picture shows and I was really excited about that , hopefully she makes pretty babies ? .. my boys are outshining her for sure 😂

Hi Kierra, our product pictures are all males for the red dragon. Sorry about the confusion. Female guppies generally have fewer colors and patterns than males. If she is mated with another red dragon male, their babies will look like the product picture!
